Box Clever Storage Solutions, formed in May 2007, provides a comprehensive, flexible and simple storage solution for a range of clients. Both business and domestic customers use a range of facilities provided by the company including mobile and static storage solutions and caravan storage.

“We have some exciting plans to expand Box Clever including acquiring new sites, developing the brand and business model and creating a franchise model that can be rolled out across the UK.”

Nicholson’s HI-AB Ltd

Part of the Nicholson Group

Nicholson’s HIAB is a relatively new company, formed in May 2010 and was set up to address a gap in the market for a specialist HIAB operator. Nicholson’s HIAB now has three team members, and continues to show positive signs of growth under testing economic trading conditions. With ‘start up’ investment and support from the Nicholson Group, this operation is already achieving and exceeding its growth plans.

“I am delighted that we were able to support this specialist operator. There are now several contracts in place to provide support to utilities companies carrying out maintenance and installations in the oil and gas sectors throughout the UK and Europe.”

Unique, ethically sourced furniture

J. N. Rusticus was launched in September 2016, and is the exciting new venture for Joe Nicholson.

Joe, who was already working as business manager for Billingham-based storage company Box Clever, took an apprenticeship route following A Levels rather than join many of his friends at university. Joe’s practical experience of running a business had helped him realise his entrepreneurial aspirations. Joe’s business idea had to involve logistics and fulfilment as it’s an area he’s been involved in most of his life with his dad, David Nicholson.

J. N. Rusticus sources and sells unique, ethically sourced home and office furniture from around the world. Joe travelled to both India and China to seek high quality products including tables, chairs, benches, cabinets and cupboards, handmade entirely from reclaimed boat wood.

The name J.N. Rusticus was chosen because it means rustic and rural in Latin. Joe feels that reflects the ethos of the business as a supplier of beautiful, ethically sourced furniture from some incredibly talented craftspeople.

Joe will continue to seek furniture from a range of designers and manufacturers from across the world, with a visit planned to Indonesia in 2017.
